"Yorgun olduğunu söyledi" ile "Bana yorgun olduğunu söyledi". Türkçe ikisinde de "söyledi" der. İngilizce ilkinde said, ikincisinde told kullanır: told'un arkasında hep bir kişi var.

"said me" olmaz, kişisiz "told that" da olmaz. told'dan sonra to gelmez: told me, "told to me" değil.

Kişiyi said ile söylemek istersen to gerekir; doğrudur ama konuşmada told me daha doğal. tell'in kişisiz kalıpları da var (tell the truth), ama bir cümle aktarırken hep bir kişi ister.
